Almost 75 per cent of enterprises in Argentina have no person specifically in charge of IT Security. This is the conclusion of a study by the market researcher firm Prince & Cooke SA., published today. Most companies keep the IT security functions under the general IT management sector.

Over a hundred companies having an average annual turnover of US$350 million were polled for the study, according to Enrique Carrier, Director of Prince & Cooke. Of these, 81 per cent said they had formal policies of some sort regarding IT security, but only 44 per cent have a budget specifically assigned to this area.

Most enterprises do not have a Manager of IT security or equivalent, and most companies "show some ignorance" about some of the specialized solutions for IT security, the report says. The software used in most cases consists of antivirus programs, firewalls and access controls.
